Join us for an inspiring evening with Scott Hoffman, winner of the James Beard M. F. K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award, and his wife Mary Jo Hoffman, an aeronautical engineer-turned-artist.

In 2012, Steve Hoffman thought he was leaving ordinary life behind, moving with his wife and two children from Minnesota to a tiny winemaking village in southern France. His goal? To translate his lifelong love of France into an idyllic six-month escape.

However, reality didn't match his picturesque vision. The village was tired, locals uninterested, and the food not truly French. Life felt like a cultural puzzle. Everything that had worked before no longer did, forcing Hoffman to reorient himself. What did it mean to be a husband and father in this unexpected setting? Join us for a discussion of his memoir, A Season for That: Lost and Found in the Other Southern France, where whimsy meets cultural exploration.

Joining Steve will be his wife, Mary Jo Hoffman, who has recently published a stunning book of photographs on the "art of noticing."
