Get started in the chess world with our beginner-friendly class, where you'll learn the fundamentals and strategies to kickstart your chess journey.
Join us for beginning chess lessons for students in grades 3-5 only.
The class will cover an interactive lesson and end with free play.
We will start with how the pieces move in the first lesson and then basic tactics and checkmating patterns during our 8 weeks!
Sign up for the series to learn all about chess. If you miss the first class, you will need a basic understanding of how the pieces move to join us.
Beginning Chess for Kids - Weekday Series is a teen-led class taught by Teddy Gove. Teddy has been teaching chess to grade school kids for the last two years through ChessPals. He is a senior at Redwood High School and likes to run and (not surprisingly) play chess.
** Please note, this fall we are offering 2 Beginning Chess for Kids series, one on Wednesdays and one on Sunday. Please sign up for one series only!
The Library was designed by the firm of Bull, Stockwell, and Allen. The architectural style is that of the 19th century railroad yard in Tiburon.
The site is part of the landfill of the 1890s done to create the railroad yard. Windows frame views of the marsh lands and Old St. Hilary's Open Space preserve.
The expanded library was designed by Brown Reynolds Watford Architecture and added approximately 9,000 square feet, bringing the total size of the library to about 19,500 square feet.
