Free student-led class for middle school students to learn public speaking skills!

Students in grades 6-8 are invited to sign up for a free 4-session class to improve their speaking skills for school presentations and formal speech tournaments.

Student-teacher Ashley Wang, a junior at The Branson School, took speech class throughout middle school and is a former champion of the Marin County Margie Burke Speech Tournament.

Ashley will help middle school students develop crucial public speaking skills, lessons which are not always available in school settings.

In this class, Impromptu Speaking Skills will be introduced and students will walk out of the course confident in speaking on the spot on a variety of topics. Ashley will teach students skills, tips, and tricks that can be applied to formal speech structures, classroom discussions and presentations, and everything in between.

The class will be taught on four consecutive Saturday afternoons at the Library. Students should attend all four sessions.

Sign up now for this great opportunity!

About the branch

The Library was designed by the firm of Bull, Stockwell, and Allen. The architectural style is that of the 19th century railroad yard in Tiburon.

The site is part of the landfill of the 1890s done to create the railroad yard. Windows frame views of the marsh lands and Old St. Hilary's Open Space preserve.

The expanded library was designed by Brown Reynolds Watford Architecture and added approximately 9,000 square feet, bringing the total size of the library to about 19,500 square feet.
