Get started in the chess world with our beginner-friendly class, where you'll learn the fundamentals and strategies to implement on your chess journey.
Join us for beginning chess lessons for students in grades 3-5 only.
The class will cover an interactive lesson and end with free play.
We will start with how the pieces move in the first lesson and then basic tactics and checkmating patterns during our 6 weeks!
Sign up for the series to learn all about chess. If you miss the first class, you will need a basic understanding of how the pieces move to join us. The class will adapt to the knowledge of the players and is open to students that have previously participated in the class.
Beginning Chess for Kids is a teen-led class with Ryan Wolk, a senior at San Francisco University High School who has previously taught chess with ChessPals.
The Library was designed by the firm of Bull, Stockwell, and Allen. The architectural style is that of the 19th century railroad yard in Tiburon.
The site is part of the landfill of the 1890s done to create the railroad yard. Windows frame views of the marsh lands and Old St. Hilary's Open Space preserve.
The expanded library was designed by Brown Reynolds Watford Architecture and added approximately 9,000 square feet, bringing the total size of the library to about 19,500 square feet.
