Green monster in your garden? Tired of your lawn soaking up water? Join us to learn why lawns are not eco-friendly, the best method to eliminate one and how to select replacements for the space.

In this presentation, you will learn why lawns are not eco-friendly, watch a short video that shows the best method to easily eliminate one, and discover how to decide the best use for the space. We will discuss the latest in walkable green plants, plus a host of other possibilities that will broaden your definition of “lawn alternative” as we answer these questions:

  • Why replace your lawn?
  • Three methods for lawn removal
  • What do you put where your lawn was?

Our presenter Marie Narlock has been a UC Marin Master Gardener since 2004. She studied landscape design through the UC Berkeley Extension and Merritt College and completed sustainable landscape classes at Sonoma State University. Marie writes articles for the Marin IJ and is co-founder and co-editor of the Leaflet, the Marin Master Gardener e-newsletter. She has participated in many MMG projects over the years, including the Marin County Fair demonstration gardens.
