Students in grades 6-8 are invited to sign up for a free class to improve their speaking skills for school presentations and formal speeches.

Student-teacher Ashley Wang, a junior at The Branson School, took speech classes throughout middle school and is a former champion of the Marin County Margie Burke Speech Tournament.

Ashley will help middle school students develop crucial public speaking skills, lessons that are not always available in school settings.

In this class, Impromptu Speaking Skills will be introduced and students will walk out of the course confident in speaking on the spot on various topics. Ashley will teach students skills, tips, and tricks that can be applied to formal speech structures, classroom discussions and presentations, and everything in between.

Middle school students who attended our previous public speaking class can sign up again to build on their skills, and new students are invited to participate.

The first session in January will summarize and review the material previously covered, and the next six sessions will introduce new concepts and provide experience and peer feedback.

The one-hour class will be held on seven Saturday afternoons at the Library. Students should attend all sessions if possible. There will be a snack/restroom break halfway through the hour.
