Join economist Jon Haveman for a nonpartisan discussion on the state of US healthcare, exploring costs, access, quality, and potential models for reform.

Healthcare is the biggest industry and the largest employer in the U.S. What does that mean for us? In this talk, we discuss the current state of healthcare in the United States.

This includes an in-depth exploration of costs, access, and quality. Beyond this, explanations are offered for the dramatically increasing healthcare costs, from premiums to fees for service as well as a discussion of different healthcare models, or more accurately, health insurance provision. There are a variety of systems in place and we will discuss each and what role they play in the U.S. system of healthcare provision.

Be intrigued with this nonpartisan presentation hosted by Jon Haveman, Ph.D., Executive Director of the National Economic Education Delegation.

Jon Haveman is a Principal at Marin Economic Consulting, an economic research and consulting firm specializing in entrepreneurship and local economic development issues. Dr. Haveman is an expert on regional economies and local economic development, particularly the Bay Area economy. He is also widely considered one of California’s leading experts on the economics of seaports, goods movement, and international trade policy.

This event is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tiburon-Belvedere.
