Do you love to read and eat? Do you want to discover different cultures and global connections? Are you in grades 6-8? This is the book club for you!
Starting in 2026, a new book club for students in grades 6-8 will combine a love of reading, eating, and learning about global perspectives. Meetings will take place on the last Monday of the month.
Participants can sample foods from diverse cultures related to the Young Adult (YA) books read by the group. Titles will be selected by the Teen Librarian that are appropriate and appealing to middle school students and represent multicultural perspectives and characters.
Book club selections include:
January 26: Lunar New Year Love Story by Yang, Gene Luen (Chinese)
February 23: Wild Dreamers by Engle, Margarita (Cuban)
March 30: Everything Sad Is Untrue (a True Story) by Nayeri, Daniel (Iranian/Persian)
April 27: The Immortal Games by Avery, Annaliese (Greek)
June 1: North of Happy by Alsaid, Adi (Mexican)
The May meeting will be held in June due to the Memorial Day holiday.
Copies of the titles are available to check out from the library or you can obtain your own copy. Contact the teen librarian if you need help finding a copy or placing a hold on a book.
Participants are welcome to bring food to the meeting to share with the group; the Library will provide delicious treats as well.
The Library is a vibrant community hub that offers a wide range of resources, programs, and services for people of all ages.
