Claude Community Conversations
Making in the Age of AI
Tuesday, August 18
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Belvedere Tiburon Library
Founders RoomClaude Community Conversations are evening gatherings where neighbors discuss a single hard question about AI's impact on our lives. No slides, no sales pitch, no expertise required.
When a machine can make anything, what do we build first?
Claude Community Conversations are evening gatherings where a room of neighbors digs into one hard question about AI and what it means for where we live. No slides. No sales pitch. No expertise required — just people thinking out loud together.
This one meets next to a room full of 3D printers, sewing machines, and other maker space equipment.
Belvedere Tiburon Library makerspace exists because people here still want to make things themselves. AI can now draft the design, write the code, and generate the model. So we're asking what that changes — for craftspeople, for small businesses, for anyone who takes satisfaction in building something with their own hands. Where does the tool help? Where does it hollow something out? What would you never hand over?
How the evening runs
6:00–6:20p — Arrive, refreshments, say hello
6:20–6:35p — Welcome and framing the question
6:35–7:20p — Small-group discussion (we'll hand out prompts and worksheets)
7:20–7:45p — Share back with the full room
7:45–8:00p — Closing reflections and mingle
Who this is for
People who make things. Woodworkers, potters, quilters, 3D printing regulars, tinkerers, scientists, restorers, anyone who builds, fixes, or fabricates — hobby or trade, decades in or three months in.
You do not need to have used Claude or any AI tool. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.
All ages welcome; under 18 with an adult.
About the Presenter
Sean Jungbluth, PhD, is PI/team lead with the Tiburon-based SFSU marine science center, the founder of BioKEA, an AI-native biodiversity genomics company, and a Claude Community Ambassador for the San Francisco Bay Area. An oceanographer and computational biologist, he uses AI to advance scientific research, environmental genomics, and biodiversity discovery.
