Meet Archie

Our four-week Robotics Challenge is designed for students in 6th grade and above who want to move beyond basic blocks and into the world of smart engineering.

From solving complex mazes to the ultimate Battle Bot showdown, you’ll use Archie, our Vibe Coding Assistant, to master real-world engineering challenges.

Using the versatile BBC Micro:bit, the SparkFun Moto:bit motor controller, and the Elecfreaks Joy:bit game controller, you will build a custom robot and put it through its paces in a series of increasingly difficult missions.

Over four sessions, you will program your robot to master four key experiments:

  • Precision Driving: Learn the fundamentals of motor control and wireless steering.
  • Line Following: Use infrared sensors to keep your bot on track.
  • Obstacle Avoidance: Program ultrasonic eyes to help your robot "see" and dodge walls.
  • Battle Bots: The grand finale! Use your JoyBit controller to out-maneuver and out-push your classmates in the arena.

Archie, the Vibe Coding Assistant will be you co-pilot and robotic tutor. If your robot is spinning in circles or your sensors aren't reading right, you’ll learn how to prompt Vibe to debug your code, explain complex functions, and help you iterate on your designs faster than ever before. It’s not just about coding; it’s about learning how to use AI to solve real-world problems.

Robotics is a team sport! We highly encourage students to sign up and work in teams. Collaboration is key to winning the maze challenges and surviving the battle arena. Whether you’re the lead mechanic or the head programmer, you'll need your teammates to succeed.
